Join Chef/Owner Millard Kuykendall and his friendly staff for an inspired meal featuring "Bistro" cuisine with a Texas Flair.

"The Bistro" is located in the heart of historic downtown Comfort in the building formerly occupied by the Comfort Post office. The “814” in the Bistro’s name represents the original street address of the site when it was the post office and the building, which is a State Historical Site still garners the “814” on the window above the entrance.

Bistro cuisine translates as good unpretentious food in a comfortable setting. The menu changes weekly. Seafood selections are prepared each day based on what is fresh and available and steaks are hand cut and cooked to perfection.

This unaffected bistro serves memorable food in
a charming historic building. We ate our way through the menu, starting with hot bread sticks (think mini baguettes), followed by barely breaded crab cakes and a bowl of tender mussels simmered in a spicy tomato broth (the better to facilitate the eating of more bread sticks).
